Jezebels Encore With A Sepia Twist.

Jezebels Encore is comprised of Jared Funari and Jamel King and is a new project for both musicians. Im not typically one for much photoshop beyond standard retouching, but since Jared and Jamel Give me a good amount of creative latitude I had a little fun with this image.

Second Image Of Jezebels Encore.

Jezebels Encore is comprised of Jared Funari and Jamel King and is a new project for both musicians. At this point I personally don’t even know what genre I would place the style in, but they are quite amazing together. This is the second edited image from their press photoshoot, a day I decided to challenge myself and shoot nothing but natural light, in the harshest of light conditions with no artificial diffusion. I have decided to add a new category called “shoot notes” to hold thoughts about specific images and shoots like this one.

This is a taste of their press photoshoot, a day I decided to challenge myself and shoot nothing but natural light, in the harshest of light conditions with no artificial diffusion. I must say I am quite pleased with the results, look forward to more images very soon.

The Soul Of The Artist Grows, Back To My Roots, Painting Again.

No not houses, acrylics. As part of being contracted for Jared Funari’s EP artwork, there was an image to be reproduced, an image he wanted to use. This “image” wasnt an image at all, but merely a crop of a stage image, a tiny section of a picture that was nothing more than a background blur of light. This piece of image, was such a low resolution it was impossible to use without an incredible amount of interpolation and jpg artifacts. For some reason I decided it would be a good idea to embrace the fact that I am an artist, and paint it. It was thrilling. I rather enjoy the process of creating an image package and not just photographs. Having not picked up a paint brush in ten years, my abilities have seemed to grow on their own, under the surface, by way of other media. It seems the soul of an artist can be developed by creation itself and not just practise and continued use of the same media. To get over the mind dump, the acrylic I created is now for sale, as will be many more to come as original acrylic on canvas and prints. Since I finally believe in myself as an artist again and not just a photographer, I am going to start playing with all other forms of media I have since left in the dark for many years, Look forward to some interesting work.

Felling accomplished, and stonewalled at the same time. I made a few new contacts today but my schedule didn’t allow me the freedom of making all the calls I wanted to.

Dropped off The acrylic painting I recently composed for Jared Funari’s EP cover to Kim at Visual Winds to be copied. Spent about three or four hours on the phone with Sprint and Palm to resolve some issues with my mobile device. The experience is growing to be something you can believe in. For all of the nation I have traveled in, Sprint is the best service and coverage, hands down.

Contemplated life a little, I think I am going to keep my apt for another year, and I am definitely committed to a project that has been rolling around in my head for quite some time, the ball has started rolling, now I just need to get the sponsors necessary to make it all happen.

Keeping a diary isn’t a regular thing for me, so be patient as I get used to it.

Tuesday September 8, 2009 New Diary Category.

As the summer comes to a close I find myself in a place I have been so many times in the past, racing to keep up with the sunlight. Putting together an image for Jared Funari’s upcoming EP release there were a few crazy ideas rolling around in my head so why not put them into an image. Randomly driving around upstate New York brought me to the Hewitt Farm, and the land owner graciously allowed me to take photographs on his property. There was a good cornfield facing east and made for exactly the positioning I wanted.

After spending a little time on the phone with the land owners of another location I have been dying to shoot, relief washes over me at their willingness to allow myself, make-up artist Genn Shaughnessy and a model or two do a set in their highly unique **** ****.

Aside from creating silly images, the path of my future and what to do tomorrow rolls around in my head constantly. Calls to a handful of magazines are necessary, magazines I was referred to by a new acquaintance that is a Pulitzer Prize winning author.

Who would have thought my name would end up on Forbes.com? What the hell is going on here? It is just another copy of the Thirteen Yards To Victory press release, but still… this is crazy, its Forbes.

Till tomorrow, Goodnight.

Behind The Scenes with Jared Funari

Albany NY based musician Jared Funari contracted me to create images for his press kit, there is only one behind the scenes image, and a couple samples from his shoot… Sometimes it just comes to me five minutes before we start shooting, other times I plan for weeks. In the case of Jared’s shoot it was a 50/50 split. The sunset location was planned and researched for weeks, the 442 was a last minute decision that worked out amazingly.
