Tattoos for Cancer Christmas Party and Fund Raiser
As part of the Kevin Curry project, his son Michael has created Tattoo’s for Cancer. Currently in its development stage Tattoo’s for Cancer is only on Myspace and Facebook but a website is coming very soon. On December 19, 2009 the first annual Tattoo’s for cancer Christmas Party Fundraising Event will be held at the Fuller Roadhouse Grille on Fuller Rd. in Albany, NY. If you are local please come and show your support, and I would like to encourage anyone local to Albany to spread the word as much as possible.
Drew Carey, @drewfromtv, Is Helping @livestrong Raise Money For Cancer.
Drew Carey is doing something very honorable to help the Livestrong foundation. If you read his blog post, you will have a complete set of details. In the post he states that he feels he made it “too much about him…” by specifying that he will donate $1 for every twitter follower by the end of the year to the Livestrong foundation. In no way do I think it is too much about anyone, what he is doing is honorable no matter how he does it, Livestrong will benefit regardless. I mean, damn Drew, your a comedian and you found a way to make it fun, call it a job hazard. Drew Carey is one of very few people that are taking an initiative and doing something about it.
If you are on twitter, follow @drewfromtv and @livestrong to support the cause.
I have my own little cancer crusade going on to help a friends father, Kevin Curry, with his cancer fight but alas all I can do is sell my own artwork to help him.
Its time to stop losing people to cancer, please follow Drew Carey and past this into your twitter encouraging other to do so as well: (and tell drew he’s doing a good thing!)
RT @drewfromtv 1 million followers by end of 2009 for @livestrong to get 1 million dollars. Then on Jan 1st you can unfollow me if you want.

Direct Donations To One Mans Cancer Struggle. #cancer
There are three men in my life that I would consider to be “family” as well as friends. These men, have been by my side through the best of times, and more importantly through the worst in ways that only family would stand by the side of another human being, and I will forever treat them with the same respect. Normally this type of relationship involves protecting them from a fight, driving 50 miles to make sure they don’t have to ride with a drunk driver, or just being there when they are helpless. One friend in particular, Michael P. Curry has been among this group of three for nearly 15 years, during which time we have seen the best and worst that humanity has to offer and helped each other through every second. Michal is a person that has the heart of a lion, and the loyalty of a black lab. Being that we have known each other so well, and for so long his father Kevin, and mother Joan have become something of family to me as well.
Kevin Curry, Michael’s father, is currently amidst his 3rd battle with bladder cancer and having complications with his treatment and his insurance. Mr. Curry’s body has become intolerant of the standard chemotherapy and he cannot continue with this treatment. His insurance company is refusing to cover other forms of treatment. Mr. Curry, being a disciplined man with a rock solid work ethic is pushing forward as an all American trooper… Kevin continues to work every day as a carpenter to pay for the treatments himself. Working to pay for treatment, and trying to balance the rest of his life is a terribly daunting task and the financial toll is tremendous.
With so much going on in the world, it is difficult to have benefits and raise money to help any one person. With most cancer foundations mostly focusing on development of treatments and research for a cure, it is difficult for them to focus on any one individual so I am taking it upon myself to do something to help one individual whom I consider part of my family.
This is not a charity, this is a direct donation of part of my own profits to Mr. Kevin Curry. 50% of the profit from every print sold in the “For Cancer” category will be directly donated to Kevin towards his struggle.
Kevin can be reached by e-mail if you would like to speak to him.
You can follow Michael on twitter @miketheruthless or e-mail him directly.
About the Art:
To begin, I am going to be selling prints of paintings I have been doing recently, and moving forward I will be adding more prints, photographs and a host of other artwork including the “have hope” print that sold at “The Great Pit Ball”. To view the artwork for sale visit the “For Cancer” category directly.
